Skeeter Georgeson

1948 - 2024

Skeeter was a native Californian born in Kermit CA.  He was a devoted father and grandfather. Skeeter served in the Army during the Vietnam era and was a proud veteran. After the army, Skeeter began his career in the animal research industry which became his true passion. He served on many local branch boards and helped out at the national meeting when they were hosted by the District 8 branch.

Skeeter had over 50 years of service in the laboratory animal profession ranging from working directly with animals to vendor sales in university, industry and government laboratories. He accumulated unpresented knowledge in the application of animal housing and laboratory equipment to support everyone’s research needs. Skeeter displayed a unique combination of industry experience, exemplary client service skills, a strong reputation and integrity. He had a wealth of knowledge from working at Allentown, Edstrom and Labex.

Skeeter accumulated vast knowledge which he was glad to share either as a facility manager or as a commercial vendor with everyone he spoke too.  Skeeter was genuinely proud to call everyone in AALAS a friend and he definitely had more than most. He truly became an icon in the laboratory animal science industry and he will be missed by so many of us in the AALAS community from the West Coast to the East Coast.

Give in memory of Skeeter Georgeson and keep his passion alive through the AALAS Foundation.
